Omni Cable Corporation (OmniCable) is proud to announce that its Philadelphia and Corporate branches collected 534 books and $1,355 in monetary donations for Philadelphia READS.
Philadelphia READS is an initiative of the mayor’s office on education. The non-profit organization strives to “raise a city of readers” through a variety of programs.
OmniCable was introduced to the organization by business partner Affiliated Distributors (AD). “I contacted AD, who at the time was hosting a book drive, and they put me in touch with them. We wanted to learn more about the organization and see how we could help Philadelphia READS’ cause,” said Courtney Serio, Marketing Specialist, OmniCable.
After speaking with AD, OmniCable decided to host its own book drive during the holiday season. “I am so proud of our employee-owners for stepping up to the plate and giving back to their community during this busy time of the year. It is an amazing feat for a wonderful cause,” said Serio.
Books collected for READS are available to the entire city of Philadelphia. In addition, Philadelphia teachers, for a membership fee, can access Philadelphia READS’ book bank for resources. “OmniCable has been a wonderful partner to Philadelphia READS. The books they’ve donated will make a very meaningful difference in the lives of local children. A book drive of this size really does have a ripple effect throughout the community. We think others will be inspired by OmniCable’s kindness,” said Kristen Alice Angelucci, Marketing and Development Director, Philadelphia READS.
